Services
Walk-In Assistance
One-on-one assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the laboratory, though we encourage you to schedule a consultation in advance for more complex problems or in-depth assistance. We're happy to provide troubleshooting help and general assistance whenever we can. Each member of our staff has expertise in different areas and a general knowledge of all of our most-used software and equipment. Patrons can also walk-in for VHS, DVD, and CD dubbing and duplicating.
Consultations
InnovationSpace lab assistants and staff are happy to provide free consultations and one-on-one help on a wide range of software and equipment. From recording and editing video and audio to preparing graphics for print or digital output and building websites, the InnovationSpace is a great resource for multimedia practice and learning. We support users of both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
Consultations need to be scheduled in advance to make sure you are teamed up with the most knowledgeable staff member on your particular area of interest. To schedule a consultation, contact us through our online form.
Tours
The InnovationSpace offers orientation tours for students and faculty year-round. Many instructors include a visit to the IS as part of their regular class agenda each semester. In 15 minutes, we can show you resources that will aid college careers for years to come. To schedule a tour, contact us through our online form.
Equipment Loans
The InnovationSpace loans out digital audio recorders, digital still cameras, video cameras, and video camera accessories. Digital audio recorders, digital still cameras, standard-definition digital video cameras, and a limited number of high-definition digital video cameras may be checked out by any University faculty, staff, or students on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment availability is displayed in real time on our home page. Call or come by the InnovationSpace for additional information, or contact us through our online form.
High-definition digital video cameras, certain video camera accessories, and DSLR cameras are available to faculty and staff by reservation and are to be used for academic purposes only. Graduate and undergraduate students can also check out the video cameras and accessories with a faculty member making the reservation and designating the student who will be responsible for picking up the equipment and returning it.
All cameras and equipment should be reserved at least one week (7 days) in advance. The InnovationSpace does not guarantee that cameras or equipment will be available without a reservation. Contact us through our online form for details and scheduling.
The InnovationSpace does not supply media (mini DV cassette) for the video cameras, so you must use your own. These tapes can be purchased at many local retailers.
All patrons borrowing any equipment are expected to read the IS Loan Agreement. Fines are assessed for every day equipment is kept out past the agreed-upon due date. Patrons who reserve IS equipment are to sign out that equipment in person and are not to send other parties on their behalf. Patrons are solely responsible for any and all equipment damaged while checked out in their name.
